ZyXEL 2864i & mgetty

On several lines of our dialin service we use Zyxel 2864i ( Rom 1.08 )
on Linux machines 486DX4-100 with Cyclades Multiport card, Slackware 3.0,
Kernel 1.3.30.
We have set X.75  ( at&O2 ) and  analog modem ( at&O0 ) to answer on
the same number. Sometimes it works great with  both, sometimes
it seems to be unstable downloading using zmodem. I figured out that
the problems seems to be a good relation between  the  speed on the
serial device ( setserial ) and the modem speed.
Is it possible to set the speed of the serial interface from within
the mgetty chat script to a corresponding value right after the
connection has been established?
Are there already  mgetty config templates for the ZyXEL 2864i  modems
around?
