Sour grapes :-)

Have a little whine for your belly?

I've seen as many unhappy couples and pot-smoking kids that live in
"the projects" as in the nice homes. May I propose that income has
little to do with how disfunctional a family is?

[Brad Young]
I guess that you can propose anything you want, even marriage (I'm not interested =)). I don't particularly think that income in and of itself has any bearing, but a CEO, inherently, has some severe restrictions on their time. Time is the most important factor.

May I use the CEO of my company as an example? Yes, his wife is quite
attractive, but she ain't a "trophy wife" as near as I can tell, and as
near as I can determine they are quite happy with their marriage. The
marriage, BTW, has survived despite the traumatic death of a young
child. Yes, they live in a beautiful house with acreage and fountain out
front, but their kids don't do pot or acid.

[Brad Young]
Can I use the GM of my division as an example?
His wife is an EVP at The Borg, they both work 80 hrs a week minimum. Their three year old gets to go to Grandma's on Sundays so that they can both go to their respective jobs and "play catch up." Their kid is likely being raised by a daycare or a nanny. Maybe things are different out here on the left coast, but that is the norm insofar as I can tell. His kid doesn't do drugs either.

Brad, he still put in the time -- the 100 hour weeks and what not! The
computer geeks who don't bathe *live* with their computers,

[Brad Young]
Stallman didn't have a *family* that he was responsible for. Nor did he need one so that he could climb the free software ladder. He wasn't hurting anybody else.

while the evil corporate execs who dress nicely at least go with their families
to Hawaii (or wherever).
[Brad Young]
<cynic>Oh goody! I get to spend my token week with Daddy!</cynic> =)

When I leave my cube at 5:30, I generally don't *touch* a computer
until I return to work the next morning.
[Brad Young]
Do you wear a suit to work daily? =)
