>> I don't believe it has any thing to do with faith in the leader. It is

>> This was not done for the girl's protection, but my husband's.

>This is very true, but the sad reality is that ministers do fall into
>temptation and sin. We have at least one member on this list who
>belongs to a UPC church where the previous pastor resigned because of
>sexual sin -- I knew several of the individuals involved. I know of
>another instance of a UPC youth pastor who was convicted of raping one
>of those he was "ministering" to; this one made the papers.
>
>No, I'm not interested in details or additional examples and only give
>these examples to illustrate that the problem is not limited to
>Catholic priests. These policies are good for the minister's
>protection *and* the youth's protection.

>My Pastor always told us he would not hang out our dirty wash for all the
world to see. I thank God for a ministry that will handle these situations
when they do arise, instead of trying to cover them up. I've witnessed(not
on the sex thing) some UPCI ministers that have gotten out of line and
refused to handle the problems that came up in their ministry. Thier
liscense were revoked. The problem is when the church takes a vote of
confidence and their congregation votes to withdraw from the organization.
Families are hurt and split.
I never heard of a pastor admit to being wrong, but sometimes they are, they
are only human. I appreciate church government. Robert Thorn
