Sitting here typing a thought struck me .
On the issue of paying tithes to God, being neccesarily through a man (as
someone said was the case) .
I am reminded of Abraham and his first born son Issac.
I am reminded that Abraham was commanded to sacrifice his son , his only
son Issac to God.(direct, no middle man)
God testing his love and obedience , satisfied with Abrahams devotion to
him provided a ram.
But Yet, Issac was the first Born of Sarah, the first male that opened the
womb.
And did belong to God.
In this case, he was not sent to a priest, a prophet, a temple, a elder
male relative, to redeem the son, but was commanded to sacrifice him, unto
God directly.
(Not take a lamb and sacrifice it in his place.)
Additionally Cain and Abel brought their "first fruits" to sacrifice on a
alter directly before the Lord.
Not to the "priest" or head of the household which was Adam.
And even in the temple, the tithe did not stop with the priesthood but was
brought into the areas set aside for the burning of the fat of the
sacrifice.
Did not Eli's sons bring condemnation upon their entire family , because of
their misuse of the tithe, and the immoral conduct with the women who had
come to the temple to serve the Lord.
And was Not Eli himself brought down with them, "because he restrained them
not"?
Paying tithes to Melchizidek wether man or theophany would not be all that
irregular according to the scriptures as a whole.
We have a God who makes the wisdom of this world foolishness, and takes
the foolish things to confound the wise.
And why would not Abraham just have redeemed his son with a offerring to
Melchizedeck? Since he had paid other tithes to him.?
We see that there are instances when God wants you to bring your offerring
to him directly, as Bro. Litteral pointed out about Jesus and the tithe of
the fish caught.
And what about the corn that Jesus and his disciples picked in the field on
the sabboth day?
Where was the tithe of that paid?
No matter how you look at it, it does seem that God sometimes makes
exceptions to his normal rule of doing things....
Example; Israelites were not supposed to take foreign wifes,
Yet Rahab was accepted and is in the lineage of Jesus.
Anybody think they Got God all figured out Yet???
Just wait, He'll do something new ; )
Isnt God Wonderful !!!!!
