I Believe in forgiveness with wisdom attached. I hate anything to do with a
secret to begin with because it usually will not be a secret for long. I
would not put myself in the position to be hurt or befriended. Yes forgive
the person and trust the person, but a secret might be there weakness as
others have various weaknesses. It is not wise to be in a area where we may
be tempted such as being by a tavern if are weakness was drinking before we
were saved. You can also put yourself in the other persons shoes by looking
at the times you failed God and still want him to use you as well as trust
you with his glorious gospel. Its better not to have a secret at all I
guess if it might wound you at some point.
