writing a book

I was thinking of writing a book/novel (or a couple-I have several ideas). 
These books, while not necessarily "Christian" (there will be clear
Christian morals and ideals, though), they will be appropriate for
youth-adult to read (clean) and will be based on actual historical events
or persons (educational).  Does anyone have any info on publishing or know
anyone in publishing?  Does PPH publish clean historical novels?  (I don't
get PPH's catalogue.)  

Of course while I'm in school it may take some time to finish.
