I find it akin to dancing the way some of the youth move about on skates.
Also not enough of our young people were accustomed to skating so the
whole time you have those just standing around and looking. No
Participation, then complaining how bored they were. Those who did
happen to be new in the church were overheard how "this was so much more
fun when the church folk did not mess it up" . You can see the definate
problems here. I would imagine that had we had a HUGE youth group, it
would have been better. I am told that in the NY District they have near
1000 at lockins and there are skating and bowling and the usual gymnasium
times. We are not nearly at that stage yet. If my Youth President came
along and said that he wanted to let the Youth go to the local rink, so
be it. So far we have worked as a commitee and objections were realized
later to be better than a event more than once.
I still have some STRONG liberal notions. I did start to grow a beard for
4 days once. (std disclaimer on beards follows)
But it is too thin due to my American Indian ancestry and was really
annoying me. I have STRONG conservative notions also, as I will not drink
ANYTHING ( sometime water during preaching if it is really hot) or eat
anything in the sanctuary. This includes lunch on work day or pot luck
suppers or even if I (groan) am over there shoveling snow. I will not
drink coffee while going through the building until I am out of the
sanctuary. Picky? Sure, but it is my personal conviction! My Pastor says
he appreciated it enough to stop having lunch there himself!
<climing off the soap box- it is hot up there and windy!>
Humbly submitted only because I was asked.
