Christianettes

I was listening to a tape this morning on the New
Birth from a Kentucky campmeeting.
The speaker was Brother Garrett (don't know
his first name, not UPC, but definitely Oneness).
He spoke about being brought up in a denominal
church and being baptized in the titles at age
11. He came into this precious Truth while
studying the Word at a Baptist Bible College.
He made a statement that I found somewhat
humorous (but there is much truth in jest).

He said that he was sorry if he preached too
loud for some people, but that he never heard any
LOUD preaching in the church he came out of.
He said the pastor "preached semonettes to
Christianettes dressed like majorettes smoking
cigarettes who couldn't wait to get back home to
their TV sets". (some Oneness Saints can't wait
to get back home to their TV sets too, but that's
another thread)

Hope nobody takes offense from that quote,
but I have many friends who attend denominal
churches that fit this description They go
to church 1-2 services a week and don't seem to have
a problem with smoking, drinking a few beers or mixed
drinks, or dressing immodestly. Most claim to be filled
with the Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit (their words, they
don't like to say Holy Ghost) and a few even claim
to have spoken in tongues.

Before I received the Holy Ghost, I had an extensive
music collection (Country, Rock, R&B, Jazz, etc).
I remember a Hank Williams, Jr. song
titled "Family Tradition". In this song he
excused his wild lifestyle (smoking , drinking, doing
dope, etc.) on the fact that his daddy did it and it
was a family tradition that he was "doomed" to repeat.
I was raised in that type of environment also, but
the Holy Ghost helped me break the cycle.
Many think what I believe regarding holiness is legalism,
or just tradition. I don't see it that way. I thank God that
I am not bound by the world's traditions any longer. If
you want to call it tradition, then I'll confess to starting
a new tradition in our home, it's called Godly living.
When you put it this way, I see NOTHING wrong with
tradition as long as the tradition lines up with the Word
of God.

I Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope
to the end for the grace that is to be
brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves
according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be
ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

II Cor 6: 17 Wherefore come out from among them,
and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not
the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

I want to be received. How about you????
