Dear Bro. Bruce,
You wrote:
| I understand the Jewish belief system and their total respect for the

NAME of JESUS.
"Jesus"(Greek transliteration) =="Yehoshua" or "Yeshua" in the Hebrew.
If anything, Bro. Marx is using a more exact name than we are :).
Probably precisely what Jesus was called "at home"!
I understand that they or anyone for that matter who does not believe in
| Our Lord and Savior JESUS Christ would not use His name because they do
not acknowledge His Messiahship.
| That is totally excusable and I would never criticize them for not doing
| something they have no knowledge about.
That would hold water, but Bro. Marx also believes Jesus (Yehoshua) is the
messiah! :)
| We must "never" deny our Father His true respect in not stating |His
name. We may say God, or Lord, or Jesus, or Jehovah, or any |one of many
different combinations of His NAME and not disrespect |Him.
"Saying" and "writing" are two different things. Spoken words can never be
destroyed, written word can be destroyed (deleted, burned, etc.) which is
one reason they do not *write* the word "God".
| Acts 4:12 ... For there is none other NAME ....whereby we must be
saved.
|
| There seems to be wisdom to be expressed when witnessing to |Jewish
non-believers in Jesus of not hitting them over the head with the |NAME of
JESUS each time we speak with them. I am in total |agreement with this
practice and also any other "offensive" words to |them should be observed
with the utmost caution and wisdom. I |beleive we can be "biblically
correct:" without being too ofensive to |them in our conversations.
I visited "Beth Messiah" (a Messianic Jewish temple) a few times. They
knew exactly who they were referring to, they just called his name
"Yeshua". This is also "safer" for a lot of members who have to "hide"
their true religion from family to avoid persecution (and hopefully win
them over some day).
|But Jesus did
| come to "set at variance" a man from his family. (if one accepts the
|way of Jesus...he is set apart from his non-believing family untill they
|convert)
I agree, but for the Messianic Jew, (as opposed to Gentilian Christianity),
the situation is slightly different (Bro. Marx could probably elaborate
more personally). Basically, it's kind of hard to witness to/convert your
family when they've conducted a funeral for you and/or otherwise refuse to
acknowledge your existance AT ALL.
| As always this is submitted in the attitude of Isaiah 1:18....let us
| reason together. Any comments are welcome and expected in Christian
love.
I hope this helps,
Anneliese
