I have actually heard with my own ears, a prominent pastor of a large =
(apostolic) church in our state preach this very message about the =
endtime and WWW supposedly meaning 666 and this being the system that =
the mark of the beast /antichrist will come into power through.
(THis is a stable well respected minister who is not prone to jumping on =
fads as far as preaching goes.)

The problem with this is that it makes people think that it is bad to be =
on the internet or have anything to do with it, (not a place far a =
christaian to be, etc.).
Additionally, I have to be on the defensive because this type =
preaching makes people think you must not be right with God if you are =
on the internet.
In fact the opposite is true, I am promoting the apostolic doctrine, the =
gospel of Jesus Christ via the internet.=20
I have had prayer requests submitted because of our web page, even have =
had other people from denominational religions inquire about why we =
preach the neccesity of the Holy GHost and Baptism.
IF the pentecostal people had grabbed the opportunity technology =
offerred when TV was invented I wonder how many souls could have been =
reached by that form of communication? Now we see TBN and other religous =
programming reaching out to people right in their homes, offerring them =
a form of godliness but denying the power thereof.
They are able to reach people that we may not have access to , because =
at the press of a button they can have a opportunity to touch someones =
life with their words. That same person does not feel pressured because =
they are in control and can turn it off at any time.=20
But still TV does effect our world, and what could it have done for =
Jesus if the people of that day had seized the opportunity to use it =
instead of letting the devil have it.
We now have a similair opportunity with the internet, we can get the =
message out around the world.
But that kind of preaching makes people fearful of it and afraid of =
being associated with it because of the stigma atttached.

Ephesians 4:5
One Lord, One faith, One Baptism

You:
I just heard something of interest today and thought I would pass it
    along to Higher Fire.
My brother called telling me he had heard that the letter W meant =
the
number 6 in the Greek and when calling up something on the internet =
the
    URL is really http://666
    and not http://www
    Has anyone else heard this?
   =20
    Me:
Hardly. The number 6 is represented by the letter 'stigma' which =
more readily approaches "S". =20
