Bro. Steven, let me tell you a little sad, but true story. In IRC I am
known as Acts2_38...once I was in a Charismatic channel, called #new-wine
and I witnessed and basically "preached" my heart out...there was one
particular man that "amened" me all the way up and down and he was so close
of being persuaded until he said....Amen Brother and I went..."I'm a
sister" and immediately he rejected everything I have said and started
snapping at me, what I am doing teaching a man, when I ought to be quiet as
the bible states and so on and so forth. He got down-right rude about it,
but that is not the point. The point was that just like Felix told Paul
"you have ALMOST persuaded me" this guy also rejected truth for the mere
fact that I was a woman. We are all called to preach and in the kingdom of
God there is neither male nor female...I am not sure how others feel, but
as far as I am concerned a woman is NOT usurping authority when preaching,
cause it is still up to the individual to accept or reject the message. As
I have stated before women pastors, I myself have a problem with, but women
preachers no, not at all. Everytime you speak the Word of God to me it is
like you preach the Word of God...everytime I quote scripture, I speak
God's word...should I quit doing that cause I am a woman? Then why should I
study at all or why should I even get baptized in Jesus name, cause after
all the bible states that a woman is saved in child-bearing. Personally, I
think we need to look at that whole thing in the right perspective. In my
church I am the translator, the secretary, I used to teach Sunday-school, I
lead song-service, sing solos, sing in the choir, I lead prayer-service
before...tell me, brother, who will do that if I stay quiet? Who will
translate and bring God's Word to those that don't understand and believe
me, even though the original thought is not mine you do need God's
anointing to translate and even "preach" to bring the thought across and to
bring the emotions across that the pastor shows during his sermon and it is
because of the words I speak in church those that do not speak English are
lead to the altar. When I translate I stand on the platform...and I even
get to go down-town to pick out my own pulpit so I can lay down my bible
:). One more thought....The first one that brought the Good News of Jesus
resurrection to the apostles was....a WOMAN :)...why not a man, if women
are to keep quiet, why was a woman allowed to be the first to tell the most
important message ever?
God bless. Doris
