Yes, You are right brother and I meant no disrespect .
I realize that the furniture in the tabernacle and all its furnishings
were types and shadows of things to come.
I am sorry if the tone of my letter conveyed a lack of respect or
ignorance of your above reference. I have studied and been taught on
such things.
I do believe however that these things were no longer a mandatory or
neccesary part of the "church" in apostolic times since it would have
been very diifcult to maintain such furnishings in every home or carry
them from house to house.
And More to the point I meant to express that preaching is just as
annointed (if annointed) on a street corner, or in someones home as in
a building designated specifically for worship.
For doesnt the New Testament say that God does not dwell in a building
made with hands?
Doesnt it say that our bodies are the temple that the Holy GHost dwells
in? "Whose temple ye are..."
There are many things which were customary under the law and in the days
prior to the time of Jesus that are no longer required or expected of
those living for God now as long as we are IN CHrist.
A platform , (which we just built in our church) is simply a convenient
way to elevate the preacher so that all the congregation can see and
hear him better.
THe pulpit provides a resting place for the bible, papers and notes and
a place to lean upon to rest onesself occasionally.
Though some ministers rarely preach behind the pulpit , instead moving
up and down the aisle with a cordeless mike and I enjoy that too.
I just wanted to express that I do not lack respect for the traditions
of the past, (use of pulpit and platform in old testament times) I just
believe that one can minister without it today if neccesary.
And in the case of some men not wishing to allow a woman in their pulpit
it would be neccesary to do without it in those cases.
Shalom ,
Sis, Lynna
