Hmmmmmmmmmm....... male/female, levite/non-levite, jew/gentile.
All opposites. With a defaulted *elect/preferred* over the other
in the OT days (male, levite, jew) follows the progression as to
who it's for in the NT days of grace (female, non-levite, gentile).
There's OT types and shadows that need to be applied to NT principles.
The NT *application* (now that grace rules as the *law* has been fulfilled),
not everything is *exactly* the same in comparison to it's OT type/shadow.
Example: OT tithing and NT tithing. OT tithing is 10% of the increase.
NT tithing isn't really meantioned that much....except....
.... the poor widow woman that gave 100% of what she had. Or the rich
young ruler that was asked to *sell all* and give proceeds to the poor.
In these cases, tithing is 100% and not the OT's usual 10%. The widow
gave it all. The rich young ruler went away sorrowful. OT tithing done
in a NT time ... may I suggest ... is a beginning point of giving unto
the Lord. Because there might be a time when the Lord requires *all*
of it like he wanted with the rich young ruler. The concept of tithing
from OT --> NT is considerably different but similar in terminology.
God certainly doesn't need money. But the local assembly does.
OT law and it's practices -vs- NT grace and it's effects
--------------------------------------------------------
I say all of that to say this.... the OT *elected* ones (jews) gave way
to the enlightenment of all (gentiles). The OT *priests* (levites/males)
gave way to the ministry of all (non-levites/females) as grace now abounds.
When Jesus gave up the ghost, and the temple curtain was torn in two
from top- to bottom-, that signified that it (the Holy Ghost and access
to heaven) was for *all* not just the original few that had enjoyed it.
