Sis:
>Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years
>were finished. ****This is the first resurrection.***
>Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection:
>on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God
and
>of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
>But if this is the first then what is the second? Why use a numeric
>reference such as first if there is not more than one resurrection?
Me:
The word for 'first' above doesn't mean number one as in a line, but
'preferred' in front of. There has ALREADY been way more than one
resurrection as in the standing up of the dead. The idea of ONLY ONE MORE
for the righteous after the time of Jesus does NOT come from the Bible.
When you accept that there will be a resurrection at the return of Jesus to
the clouds AND another at the end of the period mistakenly labeled the
tribulation, the other things you asked about fall into place in a hurry.
;-)
Those who walked around on the day of Jesus' resurrection (see, there goes
another one ;-) were taken to Heaven with Him:
Ephesians 4:8
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive,
and gave gifts unto men.
Captivity: those who died in faith under the law and before the Law.
I have heard it preached that there was only one ascention too, but then,
that is another topic...
As to dying only once, I did that when I was emersed in the name of Jesus
Christ and should I abide in Him, I will live forever no matter WHAT happens
to this body. Those who refuse did it in Adam.
