But please bear in mind that this newsgroup is a communications medium
between players of an on-line RPG (role playing game), and that the
whole thing is a great big spoof!  There are 2 teams, one for Barney,
and one against Barney.  This newsgroup is where the ones against
Barney rant and rant and rand, but those rants contain secret messages
to other anit-Barney players.  The messages have to be cryptic because
both teams can read the newsgroup.

I have never played the game, but because of the anti-christ
accusations made against Barney, some posts were forwarded to ther
Christian newsgroups.  I followed all this nonsense a little bit back
in 1993-4 when I did not have direct internet connection, but only
uucp, which gave me email and newsgroups.  The Barney RPG was
apparently played by sending email messages to a server.  I do not
even know if the alt...barney... group is even still there or not.
