Someone:
AT&T actively
>supports gay rights....better go change the phone company
Me:
Done that.
You:
........How many
>work at places where *employee relations* is taught....not just getting
>along with those of other colors, religions, nationalities, etc......but
>also getting along with those with *Alternative Lifestyles*?
Me:
I get along fine with my homosexual friends. They know what I think and
believe and I know what they think and believe. What's wrong with a class
to promote understanding?
You:
......gonna
>quit your job?
Me:
IF they start ENDORSING this openly, yes. God got me this one, He'd get me
another.
You:
It is even being taught in many of our public schools by
>now, as being a normal lifestyle.......course, you can send your child to
>a private school *IF* you can afford it, or teach them at home *IF* you
>are qualified........
Me:
The only qualification is <legal disclaimer> in MOST states to file a
curriculum (sp?) before the year begins for approval. ;-)
You:
>The problem lies not in *what* they, the children, are watching on
>Sesame Street, but rather in whether or not the parents are teaching the
>children what is right,
Me:
That's not entirely true. When a 5 year old sees these little puppets, they
are REAL to them. I have tried to explain it to them over and over and even
shown them how *MY* hand goes into the puppet and I still get "Make Kermit
talk." These kids will sit and totally ingnore me until "Kermit" quits
talking. They don't 'really' make the connection. Once one of their little
'friends' tell them something, you can have a DEVIL of a time UNteaching
them. In fact, it is a valid phycological principle that the HARDER you try
to UNTEACH something, the more you reinforce it. This is a familiar pattern
in the Goals 2000 'program'. If you don't know what Goals 2000 is, you had
better find out.
They just made a BIG step down the 'inroad' by passing this 'standards'
testing that Clinton said would "keep politics out of the class room." Now,
if this is what he is trying to reassure us the it isn't doing, what IS it
doing?
I haven't personally laid eyes on the first rough draft but have heard that
those who sat down and took the test said that as long as your 'politics'
were 'correct', you could score a 51% WITHOUT ANY KNOWLEGE OF MATH AND SUCH.
