Jesus' birthday?

Someone wrote that if you counted backward from when Herod died that you
could get the birthday of Jesus. Well, Jesus was probably almost two years
old by then. Consider:

Matthew 2
7: Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them
diligently what time the star appeared.

8: And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the
young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may
come and worship him also.

Herod asked the wise men when the star had appeared. The star appeared at
the birth of Christ. Now consider:

Matthew 2
16: Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was
exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in
Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under,
according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.

Herod killed all kids UNDER TWO years old according to the "time which he
had diligently enquired of the wise men." <girls too?> Now, one might
assume that Herod wanted to be sure to 'get' Jesus so he probably went a
little high. Say the wise men had said that the star appeared 18 months
ago. Herod, just to make sure, would kill all those under two.

As to when Jesus WAS born, NO ONE will determine the exact year. If they
did, you could know when the rapture is. As to the 'season', consider that
Jesus was crucified at the Passover and His Spirit returned on the day of
Pentacost (ALMOST wrote "penticost" but had a vison of Bro. Richard with
viens popping on his forehead). There is EVERY reason to believe that He
will return, in Spirit and in Truth, on a not too distant Sukkot to welcome
us home and call us from these 'tabernacles' into the Promised Land.

Now I'd guess, and NOTE it is a guess, that His birth was on a Jewish day of
significance. My vote is for the anniversary of the day that Joshua (Jesus'
'namesake') crossed over into the promised land. You see, that would be the
day that 'HawYah-Shau', the man we call Jesus, "entered" the land promised
to Abraham. Just as the first Joshua was 'proclaimed' to the shepherds in
the field (what season are the shepherds in the fields?), so was Jesus
(Joshua). There are MANY more parallels, but I won't go into them now. ;-)
Maybe the feast of First Fruits? This topic is one that Dr. Marx would head
"vain." I find it of interest but that is all.

I will celebrate Christmas day because it is a day like any other day in
Christ. I will however observe the ***AMERICAN*** >traditions< of my
choice. I will NOT however in ANY way engage any PAGEN rituals that deny
Christ. The main reason I will celebrate this day is that it is a FAMILY
tradition.

Colosians 2
16: Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an
holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

17: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Seems as good a time as any to start the thread on the trees, we all know
it's coming. (Can you guys set a limit before it becomes *necessary*? I
like the 'scripture first' thingy from the hair thread BTW) I KNOW what the
Germans thought when THEY brought a tree into their houses and decorated it,
but I also KNOW what it will mean to ME, IF I decide to set one up this
year.

My family decided to not get together this year. We all really got into
Christmas for my mom's sake. Without her (and dad ;'-) we would all just
sit and cry. I however plan to 'celebrate' this AMERICAN ***tradition***
that TO ME, comemorates the birth of my God manifested in the flesh to
reconcile the world unto Himself, with my daughter and friends, should the
Lord see fit for her to be here.

Bro. Paul:
Romans 14
4: Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he
standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him
stand.

5: One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day
alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

6: He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that
regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth,
eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the
Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

If my daughter doesn't come up from Florida, I'll probably invite myself
over to the Nally's, then go over and CRASH the Masoner's. ;-)
